Wags Hope & Healing Rescue (Austin, TX)

Nestled on a peaceful property just east of Austin in the Lost Pines, this animal rescue has lots of land for pups to play while waiting to find their forever homes. What makes Wags unique? Their mission is not only to rescue and rehabilitate animals from abuse and neglect, but also to provide outreach and education. Being proactive through outreach and education helps people help their pets, and lessens the number of animals taken to shelters.

    Outreach & Education

Wags provides outreach and education in these ways:

    • Spay & Neuter Program - Wags provides low-cost and free spay/neuter services for their community. They'll pick up your pet for surgery and supervise recovery.
    • Stepped-In Community Events - At these events, Wags invites anyone in the community to come learn about basic dog training, sign up for free medical services, and receive free items such as crates and leashes. By providing training, Wags helps pet owners bond with and better understand their dog, which can help owners before they reach the point of surrendering to a shelter.
    • Wags actively educates and informs community leaders and law enforcement so they can make decisions that protect animals.

Wags also recently helped during Hurricane Harvey. Check them and their efforts out at: http://www.wagshopeandhealing.org/
